After a day of hesitation to go to St Hillarie or not finally I bought a ticket and left Budapest – heading to Geneva. The first night wasn’t funny at all, hotels were all booked so with a friend of mine, Miki Szegedi we slept on the lakeshore. Next day both of us looked and felt like zombie…
Coupe Icare – the biggest freeflight festival is held in in a small mountain village, St. Hillarie du Touvet in France, 40 km from Chambey. Icare Cinema is part of the event, the most important free flying film festival.
It was a pleasure to met the Cross Country magazine crew – they distribute Adrenaline and Turbulence DVD – but we did not met before, just had plenty of conversations on skype. Now we went deep into party!
I’ve been curious to watch all the films. John Silvester’s new film, Birdman of The Karakoram was one of the big hits of the festival. The other masterpiece was El Camino del Condor. Before the prize giving my stomach shrunk, I was nervous. Time passed and there was only one prize left, Icare D'Or - the grand prize of the festival. The speaker announced - it goes to Adrenaline and Turbulence. Film hero Gabor Kezi and me step to the podium and we just smile.
